  • Implementation of the National Song and Dance Subject in Schools

This is a program that is aimed at teaching a pupil who will be the citizen of tomorrow to recognize himself and to be the owner of his culture from the school age.
The subject is taught in 5th-7th  In 2015, the pilot version of the program was launched, for which 10 schools of the capital were chosen. Another four schools, two from Yerevan and two from Gyumri, decided to join the program on their own initiative. Teachers were selected and trained for teaching the subject. The program, of course, was a success.

In 2016, the program was officially approved by the Ministry of Education and Science and continued its path, including another 10 schools. Again teachers were selected and trained, and they continued teaching children. Every year the number of schools included in the program is increasing. As in the previous year, 100 schools have been added to the list of program schools. The national song and dance subject is already introduced in all schools of Vayots Dzor. Shortly after, the whole republic will be included in this project. At first the project was led by the National Institute of Education, but starting from the 2017-2018 academic year, it is led by the National Song and Dance Academy in cooperation with the Karin Traditional Song and Dance Ensemble.
